Arthur Zwane opens up on new senior academy coach role at Chiefs

Arthur Zwane has opened up about his appointment as a senior academy coach at Kaizer Chiefs following his previous tenure as the club’s head coach.

Zwane was demoted from the head coach role at the end of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season after Amakhosi couldn’t improve from their struggles with the club having not tasted silverware since 2016.

Last season, the specifics of Zwane’s involvement in the Chiefs’ development were somewhat ambiguous. However, the club’s Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr recently clarified the former winger’s duties within the junior ranks.

He oversees all age groups, ensuring adherence to the club’s philosophy, and contributing to the scouting department.

Zwane was asked about his new role during the Chiefs legends clash with KZN legends in the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Legacy Cup on Saturday.

He expressed his commitment to exerting maximum effort to meet the expectations placed upon him.

He emphasised that, regardless of the role he occupies, he remains grateful to be contributing to a prestigious club like the Soweto giants.

ARTHUR ZWANE THANKFUL OF ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE CHIEFS

“For me to be given by a big club like Kaizer Chiefs, it’s a huge responsibility, it doesn’t matter in which capacity,” said Zwane.

“The fact is that you are a part of Kaizer Chiefs, you are expected at the highest level at your utmost best. So, the passion is there, I’m a football person, it’s in me.

“To me, it doesn’t matter whether I’m in the first team or the development, as long as I do what I love. A lot of people are working and doing work they don’t want.

“So, for I’m blessed by God and my ancestors and I appreciate it. That’s why I’m encouraging people to know where you come from because it’s important.

“Before you can conquer the world, you have to pray and do everything so all can go well.”
