Kaizer Motaung Jr issues Oswin Appollis update
Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has issued an update on in-demand Polokwane City FC winger Oswin Appollis.
Appollis has been in scintillating form for both club and country. He scored twice for Bafana Bafana in their recent 3-2 win over South Sudan and earned the Man of the Match award in their 2-2 draw with Uganda. Both matches were in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The nippy attacker scored seven goals in all competitions last season, catching the interest of local and African clubs. However, a move to North Africa is seemingly on ice with the transfer window in Algeria already closed.
MC Alger were keen on the services of the 23-year-old star, but were unable to close the deal.
Interestingly, Amakhosi have been clear on addressing the left wing position. Their efforts to sign Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi were fruitless.
WHAT KAIZER MOTAUNG JR SAID ABOUT OSWIN APPOLLIS
In an interview with Robert Marawa on 947, Motaung Jr stated that the former Pretoria Callies star was a player they were pursuing.
“What I can say about Appollis is I don’t know any club in the country who wouldn’t want to sign him. He’s a top player, and we’re working tirelessly to bring top players to the club.”
Motaung Jr also revealed that the club has been in talks with Polokwane City FC chairman Johnny Mogaladi about a potential transfer.
“We’d love to have him, we’ve had talks with the chairman of Polokwane City, not only about Oswin, other players also. It’s a process that’s ongoing.”
While Motaung Jr was reluctant to discuss the specifics of the negotiations, he did acknowledge Appollis’ talent and the club’s desire to sign him.
Appollis’ recent performances for Bafana in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers have only served to increase his value and attract further interest from top clubs.
Chiefs will face stiff competition for his signature, but Motaung Jr’s comments suggest that they are determined to bring him to Naturena.
