Moloisane on what sustains his optimism for Bafana Bafana call-up
Stellenbosch FC defender Thabo Moloisane has revealed what keeps him hoping for a regular spot in the Bafana Bafana team.
Four Stellies players were part of Hugo Broos’ 38-man preliminary squad for recent AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.
Among them were Athenkosi Mcaba, Devin Titus, Jayden Adams, and Fawaaz Basadien. However, only Adams and Basadien were selected for the final 23-man squad.
Moloisane attributes his hope to the consistent growth of Stellenbosch FC, which he believes draws attention to all players within the squad.
He is confident that this progress enhances his chances of being selected for Bafana just like his aforementioned teammates.
MOLOISANE – ‘THERE’S MORE EYES ON US’
“Obviously, I was part of the first preliminary squad before the season closed,” said Moloisane. “I went to COSAFA as well, I have a wish to be a consistent member of the Bafana Bafana team.
“But at the same time, if the team continues to do well, there’s more eyes on us. For me, it’s just to continue working hard, stay consistent and I’m sure the chance will come.”
Moloisane was part of the Bafana team that played in the COSAFA Cup tournament in Gqeberha under the guidance of assistant coach Helman Mkhalele.
He was also included in the preliminary team for the World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe; however, he did not make the final selection.
The 25-year-old had a remarkable debut season with the Cape Winelands
having signed from Maritzburg United [now Durban City] following their relegation last season.
Throughout the season, he featured in 36 matches across various competitions, netting one goal and missing only five games – three in the league and two in the Nedbank Cup.
Reports indicate that Moloisane has garnered interest from several clubs in Gauteng, as well as an unnamed club in Major League Soccer in the USA.
