VFA coach echoes Jomo Sono’s praise for Onke Moletshe

Venda Football Club assistant coach and scout Khuliso Rashamuse has echoed the legendary Jomo Sono’s praise for star player Onke Moletshe.

Moletshe, the dynamic winger who has spent the last two seasons at Venda Football Club, has been key for the club. His recent performances have not only caught the eye of legendary coach Jomo Sono but also earned high praise from Rashamuse.

Sono, known for his keen eye for talent, believes Moletshe should have been playing in the Betway Premiership long ago. “He’s quick, skilful, and has a good football brain,” Sono told FARPost recently.

“He scores goals, unbelievable goals sometimes.” Sono also commended Moletshe’s professionalism, discipline, and humble personality.

“Onke played 80% of our games last season, it’s only normal that people would talk about him,” Rashamuse told FARPost. He further emphasised Moletshe’s exceptional skills, describing him as “top, great in one-on-one situations” and possessing an “arrogance in possession.”

Moletshe’s impressive statistics further solidify his rising star status. In the 2023/24 season, he contributed two goals and six assists in 16 games. His previous season was equally remarkable, with ten goal contributions in 20 games.

Meanwhile, Rashamuse has praised the NJM Top 8 Challenge, an initiative by tournament organised by the NJM Foundation in Rabali, Limpopo Province. The eight-team tournament, held at Rabali Stadium, was the brainchild of Nyambeni Jones Maphalaphathwa, founder and group CEO of NJM Group of Companies.

Its primary aim is to provide opportunities for talented young players in the region.

“It’s important that tournaments of this magnitude are hosted. We must make sure kids are coming here to play football, and we can actually watch [as scouts].

He went on to say a couple of players had impressed him with their “good brand of football”.

“Gratitude to NJM Foundation, you can imagine how many kids were taken off the streets and how many kids didn’t touch alcohol this weekend. When they’re here, they focus on football. They should make it a habit to host these tournaments.”
