Burnley coach issues update on Lyle Foster’s availability
Burnley FC head coach Scott Parker has issued an update on the availability of Bafana Bafana star player Lyle Foster.
Foster missed Burnley’s previous match against Leeds United in the English Championship. They claimed maximum points after winning with a narrow 1-0 scoreline last Saturday away from home.
Parker revealed that the former Orlando Pirates striker was ruled out after he returned to the team infected with a virus after representing his national team. Bafana played two matches in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.
On Saturday, 21 September, The Clarets will be in action. This time around, they will host Portsmouth FC at Turf Moor Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4PM [SA time].
The 24-year-old has been one of the key players for coach Parker, as Burnley are eyeing a return to the English Premier League next season. Burnley were relegated last campaign after a poor run.
So far this campaign, the talented goalpoacher has made five appearances in all competitions. He has found the back of the net once and also provided one assist.
WHAT SCOTT PARKER SAID ABOUT LYLE FOSTER’S AVAILABILITY AGAINST PORTSMOUTH
The 43-year-old mentor says Foster trained all week long as they were preparing for Portsmouth. However, at this point Parker is not sure if Foster will feature on Saturday.
Therefore, the coach will have to make a late call to see whether Foster will get some minutes.
“They are both close [Connor Roberts and Lyle Foster], and they have been at the training ground this week. We will make late calls regarding tomorrow’s game,” said Parker.
If Foster fails to make it to the matchday squad, he will have to wait for another week before being back in action. On Saturday, 28 September, The Clarets will lock horns against Oxford United.
