Sekhukhune United keen on a Durban City FC midfielder
Though the transfer window slammed shut a fortnight ago, Sekhukhune United are keeping tabs on one outstanding Durban City FC midfielder in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Sekhukhune made a significant number of signings during the transfer window for the 2024/25 season. They signed Keletso Makgawla and Lindokuhle Mtshali to bolster their forward line.
Babina Noko also roped in the services of DR Congo forward Andy Boyeli, who was signed on a three-year deal. Boyeli joined from Zambian side Power Dynamos.
They also acquired Namibia international goalkeeper Lloydt Kazapua after his release from Chippa United.
Kazapua now gives competition to veteran Badra Ali Sanagre. From the Motsepe Foundation Championship, they lured left-back Kenneth Langa who was in the books of AmaTuks.
In addition, former Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Njabulo Ngcobo joined on a free transfer. Sekhukhune wrapped up their transfers for the recent window by luring Sipho Mbule on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The highly rated 26-year-old midfielder joined them on a season-long loan stint. He arrived on deadline day.
DURBAN CITY FC MIDFIELDER BEN MUSAKA ON SEKHUKHUNE’S RADAR
However, FARPost has it on good authority that Sekhukhune are keeping an eye on Durban City FC midfielder Ben Musaka. The club contacted Musaka’s management in August, but negotiations between the two parties failed to kick start.
However, the club is monitoring him in hopes that a deal will materialise during the January transfer window.
Musaka could be a perfect back-up for Mbule, who will return to Sundowns at the end of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.
The Zimbabwean midfielder has played in two of the five games played so far in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Durban City are third in the league with 11 points out of a possible 15.
The 27-year-old secured a move to Durban City [formerly Maritzburg United] in January from CAPS United in the Zimbabwe elite league. It remains to be seen where he will end up.
