Shaune Mogaila opens up on what led to Royal AM’s departure
Newly-signed Sekhukhune United winger Shaune Mogaila has explained why he had to leave Royal AM after three seasons at the KZN side.
Mogaila was among the new players unveiled by Babina Noko before the start of the new 2024/25 season.
The former TS Galaxy and Highlands Park player haa already made an official debut for his new club. He says left his previous club due to a contractual issue, although he couldn’t divulge.

“Why did I leave? It was a contractual issue. That was a contractual issue that forced me to leave,” Mogaila told FARPost.
The 29-year-old has described the time he spent at the club as one of the best of his career.
“It was an incredible stay at Royal AM. If you can see my entire career, that’s where I got so many stats in terms of starts and more game time, more minutes,” he said.
“The highest number of minutes that I have in the premiership is when I was playing for Royal AM. Playing for Royal AM I also got a national call-up last year. So it was one of the incredible seasons that I had at Royal AM.”

Before his move to Sekhukhune, Mogaila had been linked to various clubs including Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United and abroad. But the winger insists the rumours never got into his head.
“Rumours are just that until there is a paper to sign. In football, you don’t just say the team wants me,” he explained.
“If the team really wants you, it must be written in black and white so that you can say that they really want you. But with that said, in terms of contractual issues and all that, I leave them to my agent to deal with it.
“If my agent comes and says that this is what is happening and all that I am not in a position to question that because I know less in terms of trying to negotiate for myself and all that.”
