Phathutshedzo Nange talks on interest from the Middle East
Marumo Gallants midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange has opened up on exploring opportunities outside South Africa after reported interest from a club in Iraq.
Nange has joined Betway Premiership side Gallants on a three-year deal after parting ways with SuperSport United last season.
Before his move to the Mangaung-based side, there were reports of an interest from the Middle East. The 32-year-old has confirmed that there is contact but is now focusing on reviving his career at Gallants.
PHATHUTSHEDZO NANGE REMAINS MOTIVATED AFTER AN INTEREST FROM A CLUB IN IRAQ
“What happened is that last season when I was at SuperSport, there was a team that was monitoring me after playing in the CAF games,” he told FARPost.
“It’s a club from Iraq, but by the time they made contact, I had already joined Marumo and wanted to continue with this journey that I had just started. But yes, there was a team that was interested.
“I am fully focused here now, and I want to give my 100 per cent. I believe God would never lead me to a wrong place and he is the one leading me in this journey as well,” he said.
WHY THE MOVE TO MARUMO GALLANTS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS MIDFIELDER
Nange also explains how his move to Gallants came about after a season at ‘Matsatsantsa a Pitori’.
“I got a call from the chairman [Abram Sello], and we sat down, and he explained what the team wanted to achieve,” he said. “I also wanted a new challenge. So, after that conversation, I was happy to join Marumo and face this new challenge.
“The team comes first, and if the team can be able to achieve the goal they want, then I can also revive my career by doing well and making sure that I am helping the team. While I am helping the team, surely I would also make sure that I am performing well gelling with the other guys.”
