Mike Makaab, the representative of Shandre Campbell, has disclosed what charmed both the player and himself during their discussions with Club Brugge.
The 19-year-old left-footer switched from SuperSport United to Belgian giants at the beginning of the season.
However, he’s currently featuring for the youth team, Club NXT in the Challenger Pro League.
Makaab noted that what impressed them during their conversations with Club Brugge was the comprehensive plan the club outlined for Campbell, which he believes will see the player progress and eventually break into the first team soon.
WHAT PLAN CLUB BRUGGE HAVE FOR SHANDRE CAMPBELL
“With Shandre, the most important thing is to look at how Club Brugge develops its players,” said Makaab in an exclusive interview with FARPost.
“Shandre needed time to settle in Belgium, a young man of 18 years old. First time leaving away from home.
“He’s mature but it’s also not easy and I think what’s interesting about Club Brugge, is they look at a young player as a project.

“And when we had our discussions with Brugge prior to Shandre signing for the club, what really impressed us more than anything was that they had a plan for Shandre.
“And now that plan is coming into action. There’s little doubt in my mind that if Shandre applies himself and continues to make the progress he’s making, that he’ll be playing for Club Brugge sooner rather than later.”
The SA junior international has netted a goal in the one appearance he has made so far this season.
Makaab asserted that this has significantly boosted the player’s confidence as he progresses.
SCORING ON DEBUT BOOSTED CAMPBELL’S CONFIDENCE
“Those moments are important,” he added. “You could see the reaction of teammates and himself when he scored the goal.
“It was an equalising goal in a league game, it was important. Fantastic goal and that showcases his qualities as a football player.
“Those moments are important, they give a player confidence.”
Campbell was part of the Amajita squad that recently won the COSAFA U20 in Mozambique, qualifying for AFCON next year.
He scooped the Player of the Tournament award following stellar performances.
