PSL have announced the winners of the Betway Premiership Monthly Awards for September and October 2024, respectively.
Orlando Pirates mentor Jose Riveiro has received the Betway Premiership Coach of the Month accolade for September and October 2024.
Riveiro was responsible for the Soweto giants’ perfect start in the 2024/25 Betway Premiership campaign. He steered his team to triumph in all of their opening six games in those months.
The Spanish mentor competed with Polokwane City FC coach Phuti Mohafe and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Manqoba Mngqithi for the award.
Pirates are currently placed second on the Betway Premiership log standings with 21 points from seven matches.
LUCAS RIBEIRO WINS THE LEAGUE’S PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Bafana Ba Style frontman Lucas Ribeiro was named Betway Premiership Player of the Month. Ribeiro continued his remarkable performance, netting four goals and providing two assists. This helped the reigning champions achieve a solid start to the season.
The Brazilian native won the award by surpassing the Orlando Pirates trio of Sipho Chaine, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Deon Hotto.
Given Ribeiro’s impressive performance thus far, one can say the talented forward isn’t just a Masandawana’s star player, but he is a cracking package, workhorse, and ever-reliable goal-scorer.
It won’t be a surprise to see Ribeiro finishing the league as one of the top goal-scorers when the season ends.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC defender Fawaaz Basadien won the Goal of the Month award for his amazing goal from his own half against Cape Town City. The game took place at Athlone Stadium on 25 September 2024.
The impressive shot by the Bafana Bafana player Basadien outshone significant goals from Chippa United’s Andile Jali and Pirates’ young talent Mohau Nkota.
Basadien, who plays as a left-back has now scored two league goals for Stellies in the current campaign.
