After a rigorous nomination process, eleven candidates had been shortlisted. Marumo Gallants’ Abram Sello, Sandile Zungu of AmaZulu, Robert Benadie of Stellenbosch FC and Cape Town City FC’s John Comitis all made the shortlist. The old EXCO, elected in 2020, composed of the following individuals: Khoza, Motaung, Madlala, Comitis, Matthews, David Thidiela, Simelane, and Benadie.

Meanwhile, the QGM deliberated on several matters related to the League’s business. These include the presentation of the previous year’s annual report and the consideration of amendments to the NSL handbook. As stipulated in Article 27 of the NSL Handbook, the NSL held elections to appoint a new Executive Committee, which will hold office for the next four years.

In a touching tribute at the start of the QGM, Khoza acknowledged Motaung’s invaluable contribution to South African football. As a token of appreciation, he presented the Chiefs supremo with a R2 million gift. Motaung, key in the formation of the PSL in 1996, played a pivotal role in shaping the league’s trajectory.
