Mike Makaab addresses future of Kaizer Chiefs target

Prosport International CEO Mike Makaab has addressed the future of one of Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer targets, Lungelo Nguse.

Following a breakout season with Golden Arrows in the 2023/24 Betway Premiership, Nguse has attracted significant attention. His impressive performances have led to speculation about a potential move to a bigger club during the past transfer window.

Nguse joined Arrows in July 2023 after a successful stint with AmaTuks in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Prior to that, he had gained experience playing for various NFD clubs, including Baroka FC, TS Sporting, and Bizana Pondo Chiefs.

In his first season with Abafana Bes’thende, Nguse scored six goals across all competitions in 26 appearances.

His scoring abilities caught the attention of several teams in the SA’s top-flight, including Amakhosi, who have been re-building their team under the leadership of Nasreddine Nabi.

Chiefs appointed Nabi as the head coach of the Soweto giants after they finished 10th on the log standings last season.

The highly-rated coach is assembling a squad to compete for trophies, and he has publicly revealed that he’s looking to sign quality players at Kaizer Chiefs.

WHAT DID MIKE MAKAAB SAY ABOUT LUNGELO NGUSE?

Meanwhile, Mike Makaab, agent of Nguse, who is on the radar of Chiefs, has admitted that his client is a striker with rare qualities and he could make a move in the coming months.

On the other hand, Nabi is said to be a big admirer of Nguse while Stellenbosch FC are currently the frontrunners for the signature of the forward.

“He is under contract at Arrows, there has been interest in him and I like him as a player, I rate him as a player. I think he brings something different to a football club. He’s a big, strong striker,” Makaab told FARPost.

“And I don’t have to tell you, big strikers are disappearing from the scene at an alarming rate, and when you’ve got a big striker, it just gives you another option.

“So I think he’s a really talented player, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Golden Arrows get real interest in Lungelo Nguse in the next couple of months.”
