Skudu: What could make or break Sead Ramovic at Yanga

Former Yanga SC winger Mahlatse ‘Skudu’ Makudubela has shared his insights on what could make or break Sead Ramovic in his new job at the Tanzanian giants.

The former TS Galaxy coach recently parted ways with the Betway Premiership side and took over the reins at Young Africans.

The Tanzanian champions – Yanga SC, cut ties with Miguel Gamondi, who guided them to a league title last season. Two consecutive defeats against Azam and Tabora United left the defending champions in second place, trailing behind Fadlu Davids’ Simba SC.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT COULD MAKE OR BREAK SEAD RAMOVIC AT YANGA?

Makudubela, who has firsthand experience of the pressures at Yanga, believes that Ramovic’s ability to manage a talented but underutilised squad will be crucial.

“It’s a challenge moving to a club that’s not in a good state,” he told FARPost. “They’ve lost two games consecutively, and there’s immense pressure and hard work involved. All eyes will be on him, but I have no doubt in his abilities as a coach.”

The former winger highlighted the need for squad rotation, particularly in light of the demanding CAF Champions League and domestic league fixtures.

“There’s not been much rotation, which is a significant issue. Ramovic needs to find a way to utilise players like Kibwana Shomari, Clement Mzize, Denis Nkani, and Kennedy Musonda, who are all talented but not getting enough game time.”

Makudubela emphasised the importance of effective player management, especially for those who are not regularly featuring in the starting XI.

“It’s crucial to keep and manage the players, especially those not playing,” he said. “They need to be kept sharp, in the right state of mind, and confident. Ramovic needs to communicate with them, outline his plans, and assure them of their role in the team.”

The Serbian coach faces the challenge of managing a diverse squad with nine different nationalities. Balancing the expectations and aspirations of each player will be a delicate task.

However, Makudubela believes that Ramovic’s experience and tactical acumen can help him navigate these challenges and guide Yanga to glory.
