Ex-Chiefs development coach lands job at Marumo Gallants
Former Kaizer Chiefs development coach Sundra Govinder has landed a job at Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants.
This comes after Govinder parted ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Casric Stars a fortnight ago due to medical reasons.
Govinder has worked at the club for more than three years, during which time he has also held the position of technical director.
Upon his departure from Casric, the team was ranked seventh, six points behind Milford FC, who were the Motsepe Foundation Championship leaders at the time. However, after 14 matches, the team has ascended to sixth place with 21 points.
In a turn of events, FARPost has been reliably informed that Govinder has signed with Gallants on Tuesday morning and is expected to hit the ground running.
WHAT IS SUNDRA GOVINDER’S POSITION AT MARUMO GALLANTS?
The former Casric head coach has joined the Bloemfontein-based outfit as assistant coach to Dan Malesela, the club’s current head coach.
Gallants will now have two assistant coaches, Duncan Lechesa serving as the first assistant coach.
This move is part of Bahlabane ba Ntwa’s strategy to enhance its technical team in the top SA division. Gallants bought the status of Moroka Swallows at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
Three weeks ago, Gallants made a surprising appointment of Molefi Ntseki. The former Bafana Bafana and Chiefs head coach was announced as the club’s technical director.
Ntseki’s hiring at Gallants has caught the attention of numerous football enthusiasts, who wonder if Malesela’s position is precarious.
Currently, Gallants are positioned 12th in the league table with 10 points from nine matches. The club’s upcoming league match will be against the in-form Orlando Pirates. This game will take place on Tuesday, 24 December 2024, at Orlando Stadium in Soweto. The game is scheduled to begin at 15:00.
