Chiefs & Simba circle Feisal Salum amid contract confusion
Kaizer Chiefs and Simba SC are locked in a battle to secure the signature of talented Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum, but a recent revelation regarding his contract status adds a layer of complexity to the transfer chase.
The 26-year-old (he turns 27 in two weeks) has been a prolific goalscorer in recent seasons, netting 19 times last season. This season, he has already found the back of the net four times, and nine assists.
Salum, a former Young Africans midfielder, experienced a remarkable transformation under the guidance of coach Nasreddine Nabi. Initially deployed as a defensive midfielder [number 6], Nabi recognised Salum’s attacking potential and shifted him to a more advanced role [number 10], where he has thrived.
The Amakhosi mentor holds the Taifa Stars ace in high regard and could benefit greatly from the services of the midfielder.
Interestingly, Salum’s contract situation at Azam FC has been the subject of much speculation, with many believing he would become a free agent in 2025. However, it has recently emerged that the talented midfielder is contracted to the Tanzanian giants until July 2026.
This revelation has significant implications for potential suitors must negotiate a hefty transfer fee to secure Salum’s signature.
WHAT AZAM HAVE SAID ABOUT FEISAL SALUM’S FUTURE AS CHIEFS AND SIMBA CIRCLE
Azam spokesperson Hashim Ibwe recently told FARPost there had been no contact from any club regarding ‘Fei Toto’.
“We can confirm that there have been no discussions between Kaizer Chiefs or any club and Azam FC regarding Feisal Salum,” Ibwe told FARPost. “He remains under contract with Azam FC and respects the club, which we appreciate.”
Ibwe further emphasised the club’s stance on the future of their talisman. With Salum’s contract still active with Azam FC, the club is eager to keep him longer.

The Taifa Stars midfielder is versatile and impactful. He primarily influences the middle and attacking thirds of the field. His skill set is particularly valuable in progressing the ball and creating scoring opportunities.
He excels at occupying high-value spaces in attack, making him a difficult player to defend against. The Tanzania international’s strong finishing ability makes him a potent goal-scoring threat.
