Kaizer Chiefs’ bid for Feisal Salum rejected by Azam FC

Kaizer Chiefs have seen their pursuit of talented Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum thwarted by his current club, Azam FC. The Soweto giants reportedly submitted a significant offer for the 26-year-old, who has been a revelation in recent seasons.

According to our highly placed source in Tanzania, Azam FC have offered Salum a new contract to fend off interest from other clubs, including rivals Simba SC.

The Azam FC insider told FARPost that the ‘Chamazi Millionaires’ will entertain transfer offers exceeding 5 billion Tanzanian Shillings. A quick currency conversion to the South African rand shows the amount is approximately R40 million. The exorbitant fee appears designed to deter potential suitors.

“He’s by far our best player, and the club obviously wants to keep him at all costs. It would take a fee over 5 billion Tanzanian Shillings to at least convince the club owners to sell him,” the source said.

WHY AZAM FC ARE THWARTING KAIZER CHIEFS’ BID FOR FEISAL SALUM

The Dar es Salaam club has reportedly made it clear to both Chiefs and Simba that Salum is crucial to their future plans as they aim to challenge for league honours.

Azam FC currently sits third in the Tanzania Premiership standings, four points adrift of log leaders Simba, halfway through the season.

Salum previously worked under Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans, where Nabi is credited with transforming the Taifa Stars ace from a defensive midfielder into a high-scoring number 10.

Salum has excelled in the final third, boasting an impressive goal-scoring record and creative playmaking abilities. Last season, ‘Fei Toto’ netted a remarkable 19 goals. He has continued his outstanding form this season, scoring four goals and providing nine assists in 16 games.

His ingenuity has not gone unnoticed, with both Chiefs and Simba SC eager to secure his services. Affectionately known as ‘Zanzibar’s Finest’, Salum is contracted to Azam FC until June 2026.

The existing contract means that any club interested in signing Salum will need to pay a substantial transfer fee.
