As if to brag about his Orlando Pirates jaggernaut, Jose Riveiro has made a bold claim about how his charges are dominating in the PSL. Riveiro and his men are walking with springs on their step after winning the Soweto derby.
Midfielder Patrick Maswangayi was the point of difference after converting from a late penalty that handed The Buccaneers maximum points.
To their credit, Pirates have one blemish in their last eight games across all competitions. They lost 1-0 to Cape Town City last month. And seven of the matches have all ended in wins, including the famous 2-1 win over Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.
WHAT THE ORLANDO PIRATES COACH RIVEIRO SAID

As such, Riveiro has made a bold claim suggesting his men are now unplayable in the PSL.
“It’s not easy to play Pirates right now for anyone. I think little by little we are managing to put the ball where we like to spend the time. And today [Saturday], Chiefs wasn’t able to get there.
“With the subs they brought, Sirino [Gaston] and Yusuf [Maart], they got a bit of quality but we still managed to impose ourselves for most of the games.
“It could have easily been a draw had it not been for Tito’s goal [Patrick Maswanganyi]. The game was about to end and for me, the confidence was untouchable and unreachable even without Tito’s goal. It’s not easy to play this derby. The hope and confidence is coming from the way we are working.
Commenting on the penalty they were awarded in additional time, Jose Riveiro said:
“A well-deserved three points, we worked hard in the first half, and we tried to push the game in our direction. We managed to do that against a good team,” Riveiro said.
“We had clear chances in the first half with Tshegofatso Mabasa, Deon Hotto, so yeah, these games are always tight, but yeah, I think I’m fair to say our team deserved to get the three points.
“I didn’t get a clear view of that penalty, I watched now on the monitor. I’m not going to say anything, but if the referee says it’s a penalty in the extra time, he must be very clear.”
