Tlou Segolela reacts to his first game as Magesi DDC coach

Tlou Segolela has reacted to his first game as Magesi FC DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] coach following their 3-1 defeat to his former club, Orlando Pirates.

The match between Magesi and Pirates took place at the newly renovated Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.

Segolela joined Dikwena Tsa Meetse in August 2024 as the club’s DDC team manager.

This came after Segolela cut ties with Platinum City Rovers following their relegation to the SAFA ABC Motsepe League from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The reason that Segolela has been promoted as the Magesi DDC coach follows the club’s recruitment of Timothy Madia to the first team after the resignation of Clinton Larsen and Papi Zothwane.

Madia is one of the assistant coaches to Own Da Gama in the senior team.

Segolela is assisted by Vuyisile Wana, who retired last season and has been roped into the DDC coaching set-up.

WHAT TLOU SEGOLELA SAID AFTER HIS FIRST OFFICIAL GAME AS COACH

Segolela acknowledges that this was an unfortunate way to begin his tenure as Magesi’s DDC head coach, but insists that there’s positive progress and he’s happy with his troops’ efforts.

“This is not a good way to start. But it’s a process, football is like that. We learn every day,” said Segolela responding to FARPost in a post-match interview.

“However, our duty is to make sure we produce good players for the senior team. But we learnt a lot from this match despite the scoreline.

“We are happy with the progress of the boys. The work that they have put in today [Saturday] shows we are going somewhere as a team.”

Segolela added: “We must face reality, some of these boys come from the villages, they are not exposed to this kind of level of football and Pirates have been doing this for quite some time, and we are only starting now. So, we mustn’t rush them because they will get there in time.”

Currently, Magesi are placed 11th on the table with 14 points after 18 games.
