3 goals in 4 games: Brother reveals the key to Mihlali Mayambela’s form

Mark Mayambela has shed light on his brother Mihlali’s impressive form in Cyprus, where the winger has scored three goals in four games for Aris Limassol, revealing the key factors behind his goal-scoring streak.

Mihlali recently recovered from a muscle injury he sustained at the start of the new year in January. Upon his return from the injury layoff, the 28-year-old has been impressive for Aris Limassol in front of goal in the Cypriot First Division.

The Bafana Bafana international has found the back of the net three times in four outings. In the current league campaign, Mihlali has racked up five goals and grabbed six assists in 21 league appearances.

‘NO SURPRISE’: MARK MAYAMBELA REVEALS WHY MAYAMBELA IS SCORING GOALS

Mark Mayambela states that Mihlali’s excellent form at Aris Limassol is no surprise, citing his brother’s commitment to staying injury-free and maintaining peak physical condition.

While a recurring injury in November 2024 sidelined Mihlali Mayambela for Bafana Bafana’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan – matches which Hugo Broos’ team won to secure qualification – he was fortunate to have recovered for the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast. There, he played a role in Bafana Bafana’s successful bronze medal campaign.

“Mihlali has done well ever since he got to Cyprus in 2022. He has played a big role in Aris Limassol’s success, winning the Cypriot league title and the Cypriot Super Cup, and he continues to do so,” Mark Mayambela told FARPost.

“At the club, he has had a few muscle injuries that have disturbed his progress a lot along the way. But he has since recovered from that.

“He invests a lot in himself, his career and his fitness, so he stays injury-free in order to be successful. So this form he’s at right now is no surprise for me.”
