Manousakis leaves CT Spurs, set to join Benni in Kenya
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town Spurs have parted ways with coach Vasili Manousakis, paving the way for his anticipated reunion with Benni McCarthy in Kenya.
The Urban Warriors confirmed the departure of Manousakis on Sunday, 2 March 2025. Manousakis joined the Cape Club in October 2023.
Manousakis was part of the club’s technical team when CT Spurs secured a 2-1 win over Highbury FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship encounter on Friday, 28 February, at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
He left the club in position 14 in the Championship table with 19 points after 20 matches. As things stand, CT Spurs are three points clear from the relegation-threatened side, Leruma United.

“Cape Town Spurs FC and assistant coach Vasili Manousakis have parted ways,” said the club in an official statement.
“Manousakis joined the club in October 2023 and contributed to their campaigns in the DStv Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship. The club thanks him for his contributions and wishes him success.”
According to local reports, Manousakis is set to reunite with the former Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy, who is set to be named as the Kenyan national team head coach.
Manousakis has previously worked as assistant coach to McCarthy at Cape Town City FC and AmaZulu FC. This will be the third stint the duo works together.
McCarthy has also roped in Moeneeb Josephs to his technical team. They also worked together at Usuthu.
The Football Kenya Federation [FKF] is set to unveil McCarthy as the national team head coach on Monday, 3 March 2025.
McCarthy touched down in Nairobi three days ago and has been working hard to beef up his technical team before his unveiling.
