Ex-Dondol Stars and Venda FC coach reveals reason for league switch

Former Dondol Stars mentor and Venda FC assistant coach Khuliso Rashamuse has explained why he has taken on a new project in the SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

Rashamuse was spotted coaching Eersterust Rams FC when the amateur side locked horns with Tembisa Hollywood Thunder at Mehlareng Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

The game between Rams and Hollywood Thunder ended with a 2-1 scoreline in favour of the Rashamuse-coached side.

He was recently the head coach of the Free State ABC Motsepe League outfit Dikgosi FC. Rashamuse took over the coaching reins at Dikgosi in November 2024, where he replaced coach Tshegofatso Mashego.

KHULISO RASHAMUSE ON WHAT LED HIM TO JOINING EERSTERUST RAMS FC

In an interview with FARPost, Rashamuse revealed that he resigned from the Free State club, Dikgosi, because he wanted to be close with his family as they needed him.

“To be honest with you, I wanted to come home to be closer with my family. The family needed me, and I had to decide to resign,” Rashamuse told this publication.

“We parted ways with my previous employers amicably. Nothing bad happened, but I had to come back home to be with my family.

“During my time at Dikgosi, I believe I assembled a good team. I even won an annual tournament called Cherry Cup. This tournament includes two teams from Lesotho and two teams from the Free State.”

He went on to say that he became part of Rams FC because he was impressed with the club’s management, which simplifies his job.

Rashamuse further stated that he has been with the club for the past seven games, but he kept a low profile from the media, so no one was aware, as he aimed to make this move a surprise.

In the seven matches he has been involved in, he succeeded in winning three, drawing three, and losing one. When he took charge of the club, Rams FC were ranked 18th in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League. They have now climbed up to position 12 with 27 points after 23 matches.

“The reason to join Rams FC is because I aligned with the club’s vision and how they handle things around here. Another thing is that I will be closer to my family,” he added.

“Funny enough, I have been with Rams FC for the past seven games. I made sure to lay low from the media. I wanted this to be a surprise for people that this man is here. So, yesterday [Tuesday], someone saw me and took a picture and posted on socials, and that’s how the news came out.

“When I arrived here, the team was number 18, and today we are number 12. So, that record says a lot about the team’s improvement since I took over.”

In his coaching career, Rashamuse also worked at clubs such as Mikhado FC, Blackpool, and Pretoria Callies.
