Chippa United appoint Mammila to historic position

In a groundbreaking move, Chippa United have appointed Morgan Mammila to a newly created, unprecedented role within the club.

On Tuesday, Chippa announced the appointment of Mammila as the club’s first ever Football Sporting Director. This strategic move marks a significant step in the club’s commitment to strengthening its football operations and fostering a sustainable pathway for young talent.

Mammila, who recently rejoined the club as one of the assistant coaches, will oversee the technical team, drive player recruitment, and enhance the development and reserve team structures.

He rejoined the Chilli Boys last month after stepping down as the head coach of Baroka FC in September of the previous year.

His exit from Bakgaga was prompted by the unsatisfactory results in the beginning of the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship, which led to his eventual fallout with the club’s management.

Mammila came back to the Gqeberha club for his third stint, having left the team in January 2024 before he had the chance to return to Baroka
