Tempers flare: What really went down between Otladisa and Makgalwa?

Sekhukhune United duo of Katlego Otladisa and Keletso Makgalwa were caught on camera having a heated exchange during their game against Mamelodi Sundowns.

A gallant Sekhukhune succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Sundowns in a Nedbank Cup quarterfinal match on Friday night at the Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

Babina Noko had held their own against Masandawana and were seemingly headed for the dreaded penalty shootout. But with just two minutes to go before the end of the second half of extra time, Jayden Adams scored the winner.

The result means Sundowns will face Kaizer Chiefs in the semidinal of the Nedbank Cup on April 12.

But after Makgalwa was substituted in the 90th minute, he seemed to have an exchange with his teammate, Otladisa, who was an unused sub on Friday night.

Otladisa, on loan from Orlando Pirates, had to be restrained by his teammates as he charged towards Makgalwa.

WHAT TRULY UNFOLDED BETWEEN OTLADISA AND MAKGALWA?

A teammate who was on the bench revealed that Makgalwa urged the former Marumo Gallants winger to hurry, as the team needed his help. Indications are that Sekhukhune coach Eric Tinkler wanted to introduce Otladisa.

“He told him that it would be best for him to stop sulking and hurry to assist the team. Otladisa did not appreciate these words and felt upset by them. So he started charging at him and had to be restrained by the others on the bench. Otladisa was using abusive language directed at Makgalwa.”

In a video of the incident, Tinkler gives an intense glaze at Otladisa. Otladisa did not play a part in the match.

In fact, he has yet to get any minutes under Tinkler. The former Cape Town City FC coach took over from Lehlohonolo Seema earlier this month.

He has been in charge for three games. His first game was against Marumo Gallants, which they won 2-1 before losing 2-1 to Stellenbosch FC.
