Chaos in Mpumalanga: Two ABC Motsepe League games hit by no-shows

The SAFA Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League witnessed another weekend marred by controversy, as two scheduled fixtures were abandoned due to no-shows, leaving fans and officials bewildered.

As reported three days ago by this publication, Witbank Citylads FC have decided to suspend its football operations. The side did not show up for their league game against Moloto Shimadel on Saturday, 29 March 2025. The game was supposed to have taken place at Vaalbank Stadium in Vaalbank, Mpumalanga.

Witbank Citylads cited the poor officiating and the financial challenges they are experiencing as reasons for not attending their away match.

Meanwhile, FC Sivutsa NPC also did not honour their away league game against Phuthi FC at eMbalenhle Stadium over the weekend.

With five games left in the season, there are only three teams [Middelburg United, The Bees FC, and Phezulu FC] chasing title honours to qualify for the national playoffs with the hope of gaining promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Therefore, it seems teams like the above-mentioned ones are trying to save money and traveling resources by abandoning some of their games.

This is because there will be no relegation because two teams have already been expelled from the league in the current campaign.
