Pirates to face Pyramids in CAF Champions League semi-finals

Orlando Pirates have set a CAF Champions League semi-final date with Pyramids FC following a 1-0 win over MC Alger on aggregate.
The Soweto giants managed to hold MC Alger to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night at Orlando Stadium in the second-leg of the quarter-final tie.
The first-leg game between the Buccaneers and the Algerian giants took place at Stade du 5 Juillet last week, Tuesday, 1 April, in Algeria. Mohau Nkota’s second-half goal in that game gave Pirates an advantage coming into the return leg in South Africa.
According to Opta Jabu statistics, the Buccaneers have advanced from all five previous CAF knockout phase clashes after winning the first leg at the quarter-final stage.
In addition, the Sea Robbers are the only side yet to taste a defeat in the 2024/25 Champions League campaign.
