Samkelo Zwane pinpoints Chiefs’ shortcomings

Samkelo Zwane has stated that Kaizer Chiefs have not been performing poorly, as the results indicate, but the midfielder has pinpointed areas where he believes they are lacking.

Chiefs have won eight of their 24 Betway Premiership matches, with 10 defeats.

They have also progressed to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, giving the Amakhosi faithful hope of a trophy at the end of the season.

However, their performances in the league have divided opinions, with some sections of the fans critical of the players and their qualities. Some supporters have also questioned whether coach Nasreddine Nabi is the right man to change the club’s fortunes.

But Zwane says the inconsistent results are due to the inability to convert chances and continuing to make minor mistakes.

“I think we haven’t been playing badly the whole season. It’s just that maybe we are lacking in finishing and some mistakes have led to goals,” he said.

KAIZER CHIEFS MIDFIELDER WANTS HIS SIDE TO ELIMINATE COSTLY MISTAKES

“So overall, I don’t think it’s a problem where we don’t know what’s happening. We can see that we just need to finish our chances and avoid mistakes.

“I personally feel the recent patch we are going through right now is just because of minor mistakes that led to goals and missing chances.”

“Like I am saying, if we had converted those chances, we would be talking a different story right now.”

“We have not been consistent. I think it’s there to see that we have not been consistent. We started the season very well, scoring goals, and then made minor mistakes. So it’s just a consistent factor.”

Chiefs’ next encounter will be in the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.
