Durban City FC claimed a crucial, impressive 3-0 victory over Pretoria Callies in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Cape Town Spurs continued their fight to survive relegation.
City FC collected three points against Callies on Friday at Chartsworth Stadium. The KZN-based side dedicated the win to Sinamandla Zondi, who sadly passed away during their league match against Milford FC in a midweek fixture.
Zondi collapsed on his way to the tunnel during half-time and passed on at the hospital, according to the statement issued by the PSL.
City FC maintained their lead at the summit of the league table as they push to gain automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership next season. They haveย collected 49 points after winning 14 league matches, drawing seven, and losing five times in 26 games.
The Farook Kadodia-owned team is three points ahead of second-placed Orbit College, who are on 46 points in 27 matches.
Elsewhere, relegation-threatened Cape Town Spurs shared the spoils with Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Saturday afternoon after playing to a goalless draw.
The Urban collected one point against Casric to continue their gruelling fight to survive relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.

CT Spurs are positioned 13th on the table with 29 points in 27 matches played. They have won six league outings, drawn 11, and suffered defeats 10 times.
Meanwhile, Baroka FC registered a home win against Highbury FC at the Global Stadium on Saturday. Bakgakga are slowly slipping off the title race as they occupy the seventh spot on the Championship table with 38 points from 27 matches.
