Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has shed light on the Amakhosi’s challenges, stating that ‘big clubs get ill but they don’t die’.
Nabi’s first season in the Betway Premiership has gotten off to a rocky start following Chiefs’ struggles to find a consistent winning form.
The highly-rated coach joined the Soweto giants from AS FAR in July 2024, looking to steer the club back to their glory days. In 25 matches played in the league, Nabi finds himself and his troops fighting to get into the top eight in the league.
Chiefs are positioned ninth on the league table with 30 points after winning eight games, drawing six, and losing 11 times. In their recent match, the Naturena-based side suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium last Saturday.
The Kaizer Motaung-owned team is on a six-match winless run after last claiming maximum points against Magesi FC at the beginning of March.
‘WE ARE THE BIGGEST CLUB IN SOUTH AFRICA ‘- NABI

Speaking ahead of the mouth-watering Soweto Derby clash against Orlando Pirates, Nabi has related Chiefs’ challenges to being ‘ill’.
“If Kaizer wins the derby, it’s not going to be a surprise; if Pirates win the derby, it’s also not going to be a surprise. Those are the two biggest clubs in South Africa,” said Nabi.
“Despite our current log standings, we believe that two big clubs are going to play on Saturday, even if we’re not in a good position, but we feel that whoever wins would have earned it.
“We say that the big clubs get ill, but they never die, and we believe that we’re the biggest club in South Africa. Probably at this time we might be a little bit ill, but we’re still alive and can do something.
