Cape Town Spurs’ relegation threat took a turn for the worse after suffering a defeat against AmaTuks, while the title race in the Motsepe Foundation Championship intensified.
Spurs suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss against the University of Pretoria at Athlone Stadium on Friday night. Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger, Samuel Julies, scored the crucial goal for AmaTuks to sink Spurs.
After the slender 1-0 defeat, the Urban Warriors dropped into the 15th position on the log as their fight to survive relegation took another turn.
With two matches left, Spurs have only won six games, drawn 11, and lost 11 times. The Cape Town-based side has collected 29 points in 28 outings. Spurs will need to collect maximum points in all their remaining games to jump out of the relegation zone.
TITLE CHASING ORBIT COLLECT CLAIM CRUCIAL VICTORY OVER BAROKA FC
Elsewhere, the race to gain promotion to the Betway Premiership next season is heating up after Orbit College beat Baroka FC 1-0 at the Olympia Park Stadium on Saturday.

Orbit moved to the second spot on the Championship table with 49 points, and they are three points adrift of log-leaders Durban City FC, who have 52 points in 27 games.
Meanwhile, another title-chasing side, Kruger United, claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Leruma United at KaNyamazane Stadium on Saturday.
Kruger United, Casric Stars, and Black Leopards, who are on 44 points, still have a mathematical chance of gaining automatic promotion to South Africa’s top-flight if Durban City and Orbit College lose all their remaining games.
