AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has confirmed the club’s decision on head coach Arthur Zwane’s future with the team for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Zwane joined Usuthu in October last year, initially taking on a co-coaching role alongside Vusumuzi Vilakazi. They replaced Pablo Franco Martin, who had left the club in the early stages of the season.

A few months later, Vilakazi tendered his resignation in February of this year, citing personal issues and leaving Zwane as the sole head coach for the KZN club.

With Zungu seemingly impressed by Zwane’s work, he confirmed that the club would retain the former Kaizer Chiefs coach for the upcoming campaign.

The Usuthu boss expressed hope for a better future under the 51-year-old’s tutelage.

Zungu was speaking during AmaZulu’s new technical sponsorship announcement, which took place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Monday.

Zungu commended the work that ‘10111’ has done with AmaZulu this season. He highlighted that Zwane has instilled “character” in the team.

“I can confirm that Arthur Zwane is going to be with AmaZulu beyond this season,” said Zungu. “That decision has been taken. We believe he’s done an awesome job in giving character to the team.

“We think he needs to be rewarded with greater loyalty by us as a team as well. And that decision has been communicated not only to him but to the players and the rest of the technical team.

“Arthur Zwane is part of AmaZulu Football Club beyond the end of this season. That’s a fact, and we are very pleased with his good work.”

Zwane’s troops are sixth on the Betway Premiership log standings, having accumulated 34 points from 27 matches.

AmaZulu have one match remaining before they wrap up their 2024/25 campaign. In their final match, they will face Orlando Pirates on 24 May at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
