Leruma United have been relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Durban City FC are edging closer to gaining promotion to the Betway Premiership.
The fate of Leruma in the Championship was decided following their 1-1 draw against Milford FC at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Gauteng-based side only spent one season in the National First Division [NFD] after buying a PSL status at the start of the 2024/25 season.
Leruma bought the status of Marumo Gallants after Bahlabane Ba Ntwa purchased the top-flight status of Moroka Swallows.
Two other relegation-fighting teams, Cape Town Spurs and Venda FC, who are on 30 points, will be looking to claim wins in their final matches to jump out of the danger zone. CT Spurs and Venda FC are occupying 14th and 15th spots on the league table, respectively.
With the current campaign left with one game before reaching its end, Leruma are languishing at the bottom of the log with 26 points in 29 games.
On the opposite end of the table, Durban City are a step closer to gaining promotion to the SA top-flight after beating Black Leopards 3-2 on Sunday at Chatsworth Stadium.
DURBAN CITY FC NEEDS ONE POINT FROM THE LAST MATCH TO SEAL PROMOTION
The Farook Kadodia-owned team only needs one point in their next match against Cape Town Spurs to seal an elite league promotion. Durban City has accumulated 55 points while second-placed Orbit College FC has collected 52 points.
Meanwhile, the race to qualify for the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs is heating up as Casric Stars, Black Leopards, Kruger United, and Milford are all fighting to finish third, as Orbit will finish in the top two.
