Mamelodi Sundowns veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango has made a major revelation about his future with the Brazilians.

Onyango opened up about his future following Sundowns’ crowning of their eighth successive league title. In their last match in the Betway Premiership, the Tshwane giants defeated Magesi FC 2-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday afternoon to lift the newly designed trophy.

Masandawana finished the Premiership season on a high thanks to goals from the highly-rated attacker Lucas Ribeiro, who scored a brace.

After netting the two crucial goals, Ribeiro took his goal tally for the season to 16 and will clinch the prestigious Golden Boot award.

ONYANGO CELEBRATED HIS 12TH LEAGUE TITLE WITH SUNDOWNS

Meanwhile, Onyango celebrated his 12th PSL league title after lifting the trophy with the dominant Sundowns team. The Ugandan international was part of SuperSport United, which won three successive league titles between 2008 and 2012 before winning nine more with Downs.

In recent seasons, the 40-year-old has been playing second fiddle to Ronwen Williams between the sticks. Onyango has featured in 13 matches across all competitions, conceded four goals, and kept nine clean sheets in the 2024/25 season.

The talented goalie was offered a new one-year contract in July 2024, and he has now confirmed that he will stay with the Pretoria-based side for another season.

“I’m still playing, of course, the club has to speak to me, but I believe that I still have the energy to support the boys, to be honest, I’m still here,” Onyango said.

“The body will talk to me [on continuing to play], but I’m still here, and I say that with confidence because I’m still with Sundowns for another season.”

Sundowns have Ronwen Williams, Reyaad Pieterse, Jody February, Sanele Tshabalala, and Denis Onyango competing for a place in the goalkeeping position.
