Magesi FC are set to part ways with one of their key midfielders, Samuel Darpoh, at the end of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

The Limpopo-based side is in their maiden season in the top-flight after gaining promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

Magesi had an impressive start to life in the elite league, clinching the Carling Knockout Cup a few months after gaining promotion. In the final of the Carling Cup, they pulled off a big upset after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 at Free State Stadium in November 2024.

Following the cup success, Dikwena tลกa Meetse struggled for form in the league, resulting in the exit of head coach Clinton Larsen.

Magesi roped in Owen Da Gama to replace Larsen. The former Orlando Pirates mentor managed to move the club out of the relegation zone as they’re sitting 12th on the league table with 29 points in 26 games.

With the season ending in the coming days, Magesi will part company with Samuel Darpoh when his contract expires next month, according to his agent, Mike Makaab.

“Samuel Darpoh will leave Magesi at the end of the season. He’s a talented player and he has played his part with the club.” Makaab told FARPost.

The Ghanaian has been an integral part of the Magesi team that made history by winning their first domestic trophy in the top-flight.

Darpoh has featured in 23 matches in all competitions for Magesi in the central-midfield position and provided one assist.

The 27-year-old has been with the club for the past three campaigns after spending two seasons in the NFD and one in the Premiership.

Darpoh is a well-travelled midfielder having played for teams such as AmaZulu FC, Summerfield Dynamos FC, and Venda FC.
