Nabi’s Tanzania mission: Updates on Kibu Denis & Feisal Salum

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi during a game in Tanzania

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi and the club’s Thembela ‘Tera’ Maliwa, head of scouting, were recently seen at a Simba SC-Singida Black Stars game in Tanzania.

While initial reports linked him to several players, sources close to the coach confirm that his primary focus remains on Tanzanian international midfielder Feisal Salum, while emphatically dismissing any interest in Simba SC’s Kibu Denis.

Nabi reportedly held a crucial meeting with Feisal Salum during his visit. This meeting confirms Nabi’s continued keen interest in the dynamic midfielder, a player he has long admired. Previous attempts to secure Salum’s services hit a snag due to a significant disparity in valuation between the clubs involved.

However, the recent meeting appears to have breathed new life into the potential transfer. Crucially, sources close to the player confirm he is highly receptive to the project and is eager to join Chiefs next season.

Salum’s desire for a move is not new. In January, the midfielder reportedly stopped training for a week in an attempt to force a transfer, as he sought a new challenge.

The sticking point at the time was Azam FC’s hefty R40 million valuation. With only a year remaining on his contract with the cash-rich Tanzanian club, Salum’s bargaining position may have strengthened.

THE RACE FOR SIGNING FEISAL SALUM

The race for Salum’s signature is far from over; however, both Tanzanian giants, Young Africans and Simba SC, are actively pushing for his services.

Yanga, in particular, is looking to bolster their midfield after the recent departure of Stephane Aziz Ki to Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club.

Meanwhile, reports linking Nabi to Simba SC forward Kibu Denis have been definitively refuted.

Speculation arose after Nabi was seen attending a Simba game against Singida during his trip. However, his presence at the match was purely coincidental and not indicative of any transfer interest in Denis.
