Durban City FC are in discussions with Sekhukhune United regarding a potential transfer of defender Njabulo Ngcobo, FARPost has learnt.
The 31-year-old has only spent one season with Babina Noko, having joined the club at the beginning of the recently concluded 2024/25 campaign after departing Kaizer Chiefs.
However, Ngcobo didn’t enjoy the expected amount of playing time, as he largely remained out of favour under Lehlohonolo Seema last season.ย
At times, the former Moroka Swallows centre-backโs progress was also hampered by an injury, particularly in the middle of the season.
Further, Daniel Cardoso, Tresor Yamba, and Katlego Mohamme were consistently preferred ahead of him for the central defensive positions, further limiting his chances to make an impact.
Ngcobo made only six appearances across all competitions throughout the season. This included five appearances in the Betway Premiership and one in the Carling Knockout Cup.

NGCOBO KEEN FOR A MOVE TO NEWLY-PROMOTED DURBAN CITY
Now, according to FARPost sources, the Limpopo club is open to letting the player go with Ngcobo also reportedly keen for a move to the Betway Premiership newbies.
Durban City earned automatic promotion to the top-flight after ending the 2024/25 campaign at the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table with 58 points after 30 matches.
Yet, their celebratory moment was put on hold for several weeks as the club navigated a period of intense legal contention.
The usual festive trophy presentation on the final day of the season was notably delayed, a decision the PSL communicated in May, pending the resolution of a critical case.
The leagueโs Dispute Resolution Chamber [DRC] was engaged in this matter, which was initially brought forward by JDR Stars and later joined by Cape Town Spurs.
This case originated with JDR Stars lodging a protest against the eligibility of City defender Sazi Magawana, an appeal later joined by Cape Town Spurs.ย
Both clubs alleged that Magawana was improperly registered by Durban City after his transfer from Marumo Gallants, arguing his clearance should have come from Leruma United, who had acquired Gallants’ status.ย
However, City won the case and the Championship trophy handover will take place on Tuesday, 10 June and will be broadcast on SuperSport 202 at 5 pm.
