Venda FC have officially confirmed the appointment of Clinton Larsen as their new head coach and academy director, a move first reported by FARPost earlier today.
Larsen steps into the dual role as the Motsepe Foundation Championship side prepares for the upcoming season. He will be assisted by former SA junior coach Solly Luvhengo.
The Vhembe-based outfit further stated that Larsen will announce his technical team in the coming days.
The former Golden Arrows mentor, Larsen, is taking over the coaching role at Venda FC from Stanford Nkoane, who is reportedly joining JDR Stars.
Larsen has been unemployed since December 2024 after resigning from Limpopo side, Magesi FC. The 54-year-old coach resigned on live TV after Dikwena Tsa Meetse were defeated 3-0 by Carling All-Stars in the Carling Black Label Cup at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
When he left Magesi, the team had won just one game, drawn three, and lost five since being promoted to the Betway Premiership from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Larsen was then replaced by Owen Da Gama, who helped the team avoid relegation.
On a positive note, Larsen led Magesi to victory in the 2024/25 Carling Knockout Cup with a surprising 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the final played at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

The SA second-tier club welcomed Larsen with open arms and believes they have found the right coach in him, given his extensive experience of the beautiful game.
“Dawn of a new era. Venda Football Club and its Academy are pleased to announce the appointment of Head Coach and Academy Director, Mr Clinton Larsen, and Mr Solly Luvhengo as his assistant,” said the club in a statement.
“Coach Larsen will announce his technical team in due course.”
