Orbit College sealed their promotion to the Betway Premiership after claiming a 1-0 victory over Cape Town City FC on Wednesday at a packed Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg.
The Mswenko Boys netted a second-half striker through Letsei Koapeng, a strike that ultimately relegated CT City to the Motsepe Foundation Championship and broke their hearts.
Orbit College came into the clash against CT City looking to collect maximum points to seal promotion to the Premiership.
In their previous match, the North West-based side collected maximum points with a 1-0 victory over Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium last Saturday. They scored a goal in the 80th minute through Lethabo Modimoeng to put his side in the driving seat in the fight for a place in the top-flight.
Orbit College made it to the playoffs after finishing as runners-up in the Championship, after Durban City FC won the league title to gain automatic promotion.
Another second-tier outfit, Casric Stars, made it to the playoffs after finishing third on the log standings. The Mpumalanga-based club collected 48 points in 30 league matches.
On the other hand, Cape Town City were battling to retain their top-flight status after finishing the last season in position 15th on the table.
LETSIE KOAPENG SCORED THE ALL-IMPORTANT GOAL FOR ORBIT

Orbit came into the intense encounter against CT City, occupying the top position in the mini log of the playoffs with five points, while the Citizens and Stars were both on two points.
The match between the Orbit and City had a slow start, with both sides struggling to string good passes to get into the final third.
As the first-half progressed, the John Comitis-owned club started creating goal-scoring opportunities, forcing the Orbit goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane into making saves.
Despite Cape Town City’s attempts to find the back of the net in the first-half, the match went into the half-time break deadlocked at 0-0.
In the second-half, Orbit College had a bright start to the match after Letsie Koapeng found the net in the 47th minute for the second division team to take a 1-0 lead against the Cape Town-based side.
Orbit College held on to their 1-0 lead against Cape Town City to clinch a spot for the upcoming 2024/25 Betway Premiership campaign.
