The group stage fixtures for Bafana Bafana at the 2024 African Nations Championship, hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, have been announced.

CHAN is set to begin on Saturday, 2 August 2025, in Dar es Salaam, with a match between co-host Tanzania and Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

On Sunday, 3 August, Nairobi will host two matches. Kenya will face the Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC] at the Moi International Sports Centre. Later that day, Morocco will compete against Angola at Nyayo Stadium, followed by Madagascar versus Mauritania.

The opening matches in Kampala, Bafana Bafana’s base for the group stage, will take place on Monday, 4 August 2025. Co-host Uganda will play against Algeria, while Niger squares off against Guinea at the same venue.

South Africa’s opening match is against Algeria on Friday, 8 August at the Mandela National Stadium. Their second match is against Guinea on 11 August, with the third clash against bitter rivals Nigeria on 15 August.

The final group clash will be against the hosts, Uganda, on 18 August. The two best-ranked teams from each group advance to the next round.

Meanwhile, the third-fourth place play-off will be played in Kampala on Friday, 29 August 2025 at Mandela Stadium. Nairobi’s Moi International Sport Centre will host the final the following day, Saturday 30 August.

Morocco and the DRC are the most successful teams in the tournament, having previously won the competition twice. Tunisia, Libya, and Senegal have each won it once.

Bafana, who were under the tutelage of Molefi Ntseki during the qualifying campaign, will look to win it for the first time.

CHAN is a biennial African association football tournament, first announced in September 2007. The participating teams must consist of players who are competing in their national league competitions.
