Toronto FC forward Cassius Mailula has penned an emotional farewell to Moroccan giants Wydad AC after his loan spell at the club came to an end.
Mailula joined Wydad on a season-long loan from MLS side Toronto FC. During his time in Morocco, he featured in 36 matches, including a notable appearance at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where he even managed to score a goal.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns player confirmed on Monday that he will not be staying at the club beyond the season.
Mailula also thanked former coach Rulani Mokwena, who was in charge at Wydad when the 24-year-old joined the club.

“Dear Wydad family, it is with a heavy heart that I write this message, as I want to let you all know that I will not be continuing with the team for the upcoming season,” Mailula wrote on his Instagram platform.

“My time with Wydad has been an incredibly special and rewarding experience. I will forever be grateful for it.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. From the security staff to the technical team, to my teammates, your kindness and support has meant the world to me. You all hold a very special place in my heart.”

He also acknowledged the pivotal roles played by the club’s leadership and his former coach, Rulani Mokwena, in shaping his journey and development as a player.
“I must also thank the president [Hicham Ait Menna] for giving me the incredible opportunity to represent Wydad, and coach Rulani for his unwavering belief in me. Without his trust, I wouldn’t be the player I am today.
“I wish the club, the fans, and everyone involved nothing but continued success in the upcoming season and beyond. Dima Wydad.”
Mailula, who scored six goals during his stay at the club, is expected to return to his parent club in the MLS. He joined the club in 2024 after a successful debut season with Sundowns.
