Dikgacoi discusses Arrows’ trophy-winning aspirations

Manqoba Mngqithi, Musa Bilankulu and Kagisho Dikgacoi discussing during the training session

Golden Arrows assistant coach Kagisho Dikgacoi has explained what’s giving the team hope that they can transform into a trophy-winning contender, starting this upcoming season.

Dikgacoi was speaking during the KZN Premier’s Cup launch in Richards Bay, where Abafana Bes’thende were drawn against AmaZulu FC.

The tournament will take place on the 27th and 28th of July at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex, Richards Bay, as part of preparations for the next season.

Dikgacoi believes Golden Arrows have shown significant improvement across all areas since Manqoba Mngqithi took over as head coach towards the end of last season.

He’s revealed that, alongside the former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, they’re trying to instil a trophy-winning mentality within the Arrows squad, firmly believing they can achieve this ambition with the current group of players.

DIKGACOI ON MNGQITHI – ‘HE’S WON TITLES WITH MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’

“Obviously, we were not doing well last season until the coach came in,” said Dikgacoi. “He came with a mentality of demanding a lot of intensity from the boys, which is something we didn’t have before he came in.

“He tried to change the mentality also in the change room. Things looked a bit better going forward. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get into the top eight, which is something we were hoping to achieve.

“But he’s someone who likes to win games, he’s won titles also with Mamelodi Sundowns. That’s the mentality we want to instil here at Golden Arrows.

“Hopefully, we will do that this season with a bunch of players that we have signed, and the ones that have been with the team will assist in achieving that.”

Arrows missed out on MTN8 qualification last season, finishing in 12th place with 31 points accumulated from their 28 league matches.
