Veteran goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt has extended his stay at Stellenbosch FC for the upcoming campaign. This will be his 21st season as a professional footballer.

The Cape Winelands-based outfit confirmed that the shot-stopper will remain part of the senior team squad for the 2025/26 PSL season, given his extensive experience.

The 38-year-old renewed his contract with Stellies before being given the opportunity to move into a backroom role, where he will work as a goalkeeper coach for the clubโ€™s Reserve, Youth, and Ladies teams.

Langeveldt has been with the Steve Barker-coached side since the 2017/18 season, when Stellenbosch were still competing in the SA football second-tier.

In addition, he is the only remaining player from the squad that clinched the 2018/19 season Motsepe Foundation Championship title and secured promotion to the SA elite league.

However, the experienced goalie did not feature in any of Stellenbosch’s official games last season, with Sage Stephens and Oscarine Masuluke playing most of the matches at the club.

STELLENBOSCH FC’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON LEE LANGEVELDT CONTRACT RENEWAL

“Stellenbosch FC is proud to announce that veteran goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt has signed a contract extension that will see him enter his 21st season as a professional,” reads the club’s statement.

“This agreement forms part of the clubโ€™s broader commitment to creating structured post-playing pathways for players who have served with distinction, as already reflected in the presence of former midfielder Angelo Kerspuy in the clubโ€™s Team Manager role.

“His experience and leadership, combined with a deep-rooted connection to both the club and the wider community, uniquely position him to make a lasting impact both on and off the pitch for Stellenbosch FC.”

So far, Stellenbosch have signed Amajita star Siviwe Nkwali from Cape Town Spurs and the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship top goal scorer Muzomuhle Khanyi, who was in the books of Hungry Lions.
