Sekhukhune United have announced the signing of TS Galaxy striker Sphiwe Mahlangu, beefing up their attacking options for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Babina Noko have prioritised bolstering their strikeforce after also recently signing veteran forward Bradley Grobler from SuperSport United.

Grobler made a switch to the Limpopo side before SuperSport sold their top-flight status to Siwelele FC. The 37-year-old left SuperSport as the clubโ€™s all-time leading goal-scorer after netting 91 goals in over 200 appearances across all competitions.

The experienced attacker will compete with Andy Boyeli, Wonderboy Makhubu, Chibuike Ohizu, Samkele Sihlali, and the newly signed forward. Mahlangu has been with Galaxy for five seasons, having formed part of the Highlands Park team that Tim Sukazi purchased at the start of the 2020/21 season.

SPHIWE MAHLANGU SCORED 15 GOALS IN HIS TIME AT GALAXY

The 30-year-old made 110 appearances, scored 15 goals, and provided nine assists at Galaxy. His best season was in the 2023/24 campaign as he netted eight goals in the league.

โ€œSekhukhune United confirms the signing of Sphiwe Mahlangu from TS Galaxy. Mahlangu boosts our attack ahead of the new season,โ€ the club said on social media.

The Simon Malatji-owned team is aiming to continue its upward trajectory after finishing in the top four of the league table in the previous season.

Sekhukhune marginally missed out on the top three finish to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup. United collected 46 points in 28 matches after winning 13 games, drawing seven, and suffering defeats eight times.

Moreover, Sekhukhune have also snapped up Miguel Timm, who parted ways with Orlando Pirates after the expiry of his contract last month.
