Mike Makaab confirm Chippa move for Bafana midfielder

Football agent Mike Makaab has confirmed the move to Chippa United for Bafana Bafana midfielder Sammy Seabi.

The experienced midfielder is joining the Chilli Boys on a free transfer after parting ways with Polokwane City FC. Sammy spent the 2025/26 Betway Premiership with Rise and Shine following his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns.

During his stint at Sundowns, Seabi struggled to get regular playing minutes, and he was sent out on loan to teams such as Moroka Swallows, Chippa United, and Sekhukhune United.

The Limpopo-born defensive midfielder signed with the Brazilians in 2019 after impressing in his first stint with Polokwane City.

As Chippa are preparing for the upcoming season, they have already signed Justice Figuareido, Bandile Dlamini, Goodman Mosele, Azola Tshobeni, and Abdoulaye Mariko.

SAMMY SEABI PENS A DEAL WITH CHIPPA UNITED

According to Makaab, Chippa United have moved swiftly to finalise a move for Seabi, marking his return to the club after he turned out for the Eastern Cape outfit on loan during the 2021/22 campaign.

“We have completed a move for Sammy Seabi to join Chippa United for the upcoming season,” the intermediary told FARPost.

“I think we all know the qualities that Seabi possesses, and I think he will have a chance to showcase his full potential under the new leadership at the club.”

Meanwhile, the Chippa Mpengesi-owned team has also made changes in the coaching department after roping in Sinethemba Badela as their new head coach.

Badela is taking over the hot seat from Thabo September, who left the club after the expiry of his contract at the end of the last season.

The highly-rated mentor joined Chippa United after spending the previous campaign with Wydad Casablanca as the assistant coach to Rulani Mokwena.

Chippa have also appointed former Kaizer Chiefs scout Sinesipho Mali as the sporting director. Mali, who is dubbed as one of the best minds in South African football, arrived at Chippa after leaving his position as head of scouting and analysis at Sekhukhune United.
