Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has weighed in on the club’s prospects of challenging for the Betway Premiership title in the 2025/26 season.
Amakhosi ended their ten-year trophy drought last season, winning the Nedbank Cup under the tutelage of the Tunisian coach, Nabi.
They’ll be aiming to compete for more silverware in the upcoming campaign, as they’re set to participate in four competitions – the league, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout Cup, and the Nedbank Cup.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys last hoisted the league trophy back in the 2014/15 season, when it was still called the ABSA Premiership, under the leadership of Stuart Baxter.
Addressing the media before Saturday’s Toyota Cup clash against Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Nasreddine Nabi was asked about Chiefs’ intentions to contend for the Betway Premiership title this season.

Chiefs ultimately lost the game on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time, with Asante Kotoko winning the second edition of the Toyota Cup 3-2 in a sudden-death shootout.
He stated that the club plans to tackle one match at a time, ensuring they exert maximum effort to secure positive results. In simple terms, the Soweto giants will be out to fight for every competition they take part in.
NABI ON CHIEFS’ APPROACH FOR THE 2025/26 SEASON
“How we are approaching this season, not the league only, the Nedbank Cup and CAF Confederation Cup, we want to take game by game,” said Nabi during the club’s media open day on Friday at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
“We want to do everything we can in every game to win that game. Of course, maybe it’s not going to be possible to win all the games, maybe it will be possible.
“We are going to challenge for every game, whatever capabilities we have. And then after that, we will see where we stand.”
