FARPost has established that Marumo Gallants assistant coach Sundra Govinder has left the club, while the future of Duncan Lechesa remains uncertain.
The former Kaizer Chiefs development coach joined Marumo in December 2024 after parting ways with Casric Stars. At the time, Govinder joined the club as an assistant to Dan Malesela, who eventually left a few months later.
He later worked alongside Abdeslam Ouaddou, who has since joined Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.
This publication has established that Govinder and the club officially parted ways on Wednesday.
WHY DID SUNDRA GOVINDER LEAVE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP SIDE?

A reliable source has told this publication that new coach Alexandre Lafitte prefers to work with his own assistant, leaving the rest of the local technical team at the club sidelined.
This includes coach Duncan Lechesa, who joined Marumo Gallants in September 2024. According to information received by this publication, Lechesa has not been seen at the club’s training session for a while. This has created speculation that he could also be on his way out.
MORE PLAYERS SIDELINED AT MARUMO GALLANTS AHEAD OF THE NEW SEASON
As this publication reported last week, a few of the players have been sidelined following the arrival of new coach Lafitte.
The 28-year-old has reportedly told the club that players such as new signing Darrel Matsheke are not in his plans. Matsheke, Phathutshedzo Nange, Tshepo Rikhotso, Rewaldo Prins, Mbulelo Wagaba and Obarate Morgan have been training separately from the rest of the team as they prepare for the 2025/26 season.
Meanwhile, Gallants are also facing a legal challenge after being changed by the Premier Soccer League.
The club was charged along with midfielder Monde Mpambaniso, who was fielded without a clearance. Their DC hearing is currently being heard by the Premier Soccer League. The club finished 10th in the Betway Premiership last season.
