Allan opens up on his whirlwind club changes & new chapter

AmaZulu FC defender Keegan Allan speaking with media

Newly-signed AmaZulu FC defender Keegan Allan has opened up on his constant changing of clubs in a short period and a new chapter.

The centre-back recently made a move to Usuthu, joining the Durban-based outfit on a free transfer after parting ways with Richards Bay FC at the end of the last season.

Allan departed the Natal Rich Boyz following an impressive one-season spell, having joined them at the beginning of the previous campaign.

This marks Allan’s fifth move in just four years, highlighting a pattern of short stints at clubs. After leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in 2021, he spent aย season with AmaTuks before making a switch to Moroka Swallows.

Allan then spent a season and a half with the Dube Birds before moving to SuperSport United. His stay at Matsatsantsa was brief, lasting only six months before he signed for Richards Bay.

Allan says some of these frequent moves over the past four years were out of his control.

ALLAN ON CAREER INSTABILITY

โ€œItโ€™s a bit of an unfair narrative if you look at my career, I mean two of the clubs [Moroka Swallows and SuperSport United] I played for donโ€™t even exist anymore,โ€ said Allan.

โ€œA lot of [moves] have been out of my control. Whether it was being bought in the first place by Swallows and the situation that happened there.

โ€œThings like that were out of my control as a player. Itโ€™s been a few clubs in a few years, but a lot of it was out of my control, like I said.โ€

Allan feels the career instability has made him grow stronger. He believes he has learned many valuable lessons from different coaches and players he’s had the opportunity to work with.

ALLAN – โ€˜Iโ€™VE BEEN ABLE TO LEARNโ€™

โ€œIโ€™ve been able to play under some incredible coaches and good players,โ€ added Allan. โ€œAnd having the coaches who play you week in and week out. That has been incredible for me to have some of the biggest coaches in the country to be playing under them and to learn a lot.

โ€œItโ€™s a case of Iโ€™ve been able to learn and grow from every situation. Itโ€™s been a blessing at the end of the day.โ€
