Kaizer Chiefs’ sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, has provided an update on the club’s transfer activities, stating that they’ve reinforced key areas thus far.
Amakhosi are set to kick off their 2025/26 Betway Premiership season with a mouth-watering clash against Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs are aiming for an improved showing in the league in the new season after finishing ninth on the log standings in the previous campaign.
The Naturena-based side missed out on qualifying for the 2025 MTN8, which saw them sit out of the tournament that started last weekend.
Chiefs struggled for a consistent winning run under the guidance of head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who took over the coaching job in July 2024. However, they managed to end their 10 trophy drought after winning the Nedbank Cup against Orlando Pirates in May 2025.
Speaking before the season opener, Motaung Jr emphasised the importance of a strong start for Amakhosi, acknowledging the team needs to get points on the board before the schedule becomes more demanding.
WHAT KAIZER MOTAUNG JR SAID ABOUT CHIEFS’ TRANSFER ACTIVITIES

“It is crucial for us to start strongly, as the games will come thick and fast this season due to the AFCON break in December, and next year being a World Cup year. Additionally, we’ll be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup, meaning our schedule will be tight and busy,” Motaung said on the club website.
The former Chiefs attacker also addressed the recruitment matters at the club, revealing that the club is still working on reinforcements.
So far, the Glamour Boys have signed Siphesihle Ndlovu, Ethan Chislett, Paseka Mako, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, and Flavio Silva.
“We believe we have reinforced key areas within the squad, but we know that recruitment is an ongoing process,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chiefs will miss their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, for the league match against Stellies after the Tunisian tactician had an emergency that forced him to leave the country on Friday evening.
