Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing Siphesihle Ndlovu scored the solitary goal to hand his side a 1-0 win over Polokwane City FC in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.
The talented midfielder came on from the bench in the second-half to net the all-important goal that moved Chiefs to second place on the table with six points after two matches.
The Glamour Boys hosted their first home match of the 2025/26 season after opening the new 2025/26 campaign with an away fixture against Stellenbosch FC.
Chiefs collected maximum points against Stellies after claiming a 2-0 victory at Athlone Stadium last Sunday. Amakhosi scored the two goals courtesy of a sublime free-kick from Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Glody Lilepo from a penalty spot.
The Soweto giants produced an impressive performance in the absence of their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, who has attended a family emergency in Tunisia.

Interestingly, Ngcobo, who was influential for Chiefs in the previous match, was relegated to the bench, with Sibongiseni Mthethwa taking his place in the central midfield.

In the early exchanges of the match, Polokwane City dominated and created most of the chances; however, Chiefs’ goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, produced great saves to keep the scoreline at 0-0.
Lilepo nearly scored the first goal of the match. His powerful long-range shot was aimed directly at PLK City’s goalkeeper, Brian Bwire. Shortly after, Lilepo struck the crossbar with a header.
With both teams proving to be solid at the back, they went to the half-time break deadlocked at 0-0, having it all to do in the last 45 minutes of the match.
At the start of the second stanza, the Naturena-based side pulled off Mduduzi Shabalala and replaced him with Ngcobo to bring fresh energy in attack. In the 79th minute, Ndlovu scored for Chiefs to give them maximum points for the second successive league match.
Meanwhile, Chiefs will be back in action on Tuesday, August 19, against Richards Bay FC. They’ll be looking for their third consecutive win.
