Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou addressing the media

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has addressed the possibility of signing more players before the PSL transfer window slams shut later this month.

Ouaddou made the remarks about recruitments as Pirates are gearing up for the highly anticipated MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday, 13 September.

The Buccaneers have made it to the MTN8 final for the fourth season in a row after winning the trophy in the past three years under the guidance of head coach Jose Riveiro.

Pirates sealed the 2025/26 MTN8 final spot after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1 on penalties. The two giants played to a 2-2 draw on aggregate over two legs in the semi-final before the tie was decided on penalties.

In the off-season, Pirates made more than 10 signings to build a competitive squad that can push for all trophies on offer in the 2025/26 campaign. The Sea Robbers signed Sihle Nduli, Tshepang Moremi, Sipho Mbule, Yanela Mbuthuma, Tshepho Mashiloane, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Masindi Nemtajela, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Abdoulaye Mariko, Oswin Appollis, Kamogelo Sebelebele, and Lebone Seema.

After the new face, Chimzulam Collins Nwoburuoke was spotted training with the team on Tuesday, Pirates coach Ouaddou says he’s happy with the squad at his disposal. However, the former Marumo Gallants coach has admitted that Pirates is a big club that is always looking to strengthen the squad.

“You know every big club, if there is an opportunity to strengthen the team, of course, they will do it,” Ouaddou said during Bucs’ media open day ahead of the final against Stellies.

“But for me as a coach, at the moment I’m happy with what I have, the players that I have, and I think these are players that can compete, and they are very ambitious. So at the moment I’m happy with what I have.”
