Durban City FC chairman Farook Kadodia says they are still hoping to lure free-scoring Zimbabwean marksman Washington Navaya.
Kadodia wants to add one more striker to his arsenal as the 2025/26 Betway Premiership slowly reaches its crescendo.
Navaya impressed during his brief assessment at the club back in July. However, he has been hesitant to put pen to paper.
Durban City FC tabled a decent offer, but the 28-year-old indicated that he wanted to finish the current season in Zimbabwe. Efforts to win his signature have sadly been fruitless.
Unlike the Betway Premiership, the Zimbabwean season runs from March to December. And as it stands, seven games remain before the 2025 season ends in the Zim top-flight.
KADODIA HOPING AND PRAYING TO CONVINCE WASHINGTON NAVAYA
Crucially, with the transfer window set to close in just ten days, Kadodia is racing against the clock to convince Navaya to change his mind.

“We want him [Washington Navaya] to join us now. The window closes soon, but we are still hoping,” Kadodia told FARPost.
Navaya is a front-runner in Zimbabwe’s Golden Boot race. In 27 matches, he has scored 13 goals for his current club, TelOne FC.
Meanwhile, Durban City are also keeping tabs on Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris, who they want on loan. The Kadodia-led club is awaiting Kaizer Chiefs to make a decision ok Morris’ future.
Adding Morris to their ranks will reinforce their strikers department for the entire season. The lanky striker has fallen by the wayside at Chiefs following their massive recruitment.
Chiefs signed a litany of attack-minded forwards that include three new forwards, Flavio Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro, andย Khanyisa Mayo.
On the other hand, Durban City FC withdrew their interest in signing striker Zakhele Lepasa. The latter is unattached since parting ways with Orlando Pirates and was part of the Bafana Bafana CHAN squad.
